Mineral Profiles
Mineral deficiencies can have a major impact on the health and fertility of animals. Blood testing is a useful means of ensuring the trace element needs of animals are being met.
We provide the following blood tests which are useful for the assessment of mineral status in animals:
- Copper
- Thyroxine (T4), useful in the assessment of Iodine status
- Gluthathione peroxidase, useful in the assessment of Iodine status
- Zinc
- Calcium
- Magnesium
Metabolic Profiles
Metabolic testing is particularly useful in dairy herds for the assessment of energy balance in the herd. Negative energy balance is a particular problem in cows during the transition period when, energy demands for milk production exceed the cows’ energy intake
